Gluten & Dairy-Free
I have to admit, I had never tried mackerel until I did food sensitivity testing and found I have an allergy to tuna and sardines. I went down the list of small fatty fish with high omega-3 benefits and finally tried out mackerel. I’m so glad that I did – this fish is delicious and way less fishy tasting than sardines! I buy the canned Wild Planet wild smoked mackerel near the tuna can area. This dish is so easy to make for a quick healthy lunch, dinner or an impressive party appetizer (make a double batch).
Serves 1-2
Ingredients:
- 1 can Wild Smoked Mackerel
- 1/4 cup homemade mayonnaise
- 2 Tbsp. dijon mustard
- 1 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
- 1 green onion, chopped
- 1 celery, diced
- 2 Tbsp. pickled onions, optional
- salt & pepper to taste
Place all ingredients into bowl and use fork to break apart the mackerel. Mix ingredients well and don’t forget to season with a little salt and pepper. Serve with crackers and veggies for a dip or place over greens for a lunchtime treat.
